87% of Bitcoin holders have bought at least one altcoin - Grayscale

Grayscale Investments and 8 Acre Perspective also explored two hot topics: bitcoin as a store of value (amid rising inflation) and growing interest in crypto from older investors.


In mid-August 2021, experts surveyed 1,000 American buyers and found out that 59% of respondents consider Bitcoin to be an investment vehicle. In 2019 and 2020, this figure was 36% and 55%, respectively. In addition, 87% of surveyed bitcoin investors also own other digital assets.

Experts noted the growing interest of older investors in bitcoin products. The report indicates that 46% of respondents aged 55 to 64 are considering investing in these instruments. Last year this percentage did not exceed 30%. Interest in bitcoin products among female investors has also grown from 47% in 2020 to 53% this year. Michael Sonnenschein, CEO of Grayscale Investments, stressed that the industry is still in its early stages of development, but attitudes towards cryptocurrencies are changing. “I am glad to see that the attitude towards cryptocurrencies is improving, but this industry is still in its infancy. It is our responsibility to focus on education so that investors - from different generations and demographics - can access this incredible investment opportunity. ” The report also says that 42% of investors want to know more about Bitcoin. More than 30% of those surveyed are interested in financial companies offering access to a cryptocurrency instrument. These conclusions allow us to count on the further development of the industry and the strengthening of the position of bitcoin.
